Play/War
Created and performed by Maximilian Balduzzi and Ben Spatz

Two men. Brothers. Strangers.
An explosive journey through intimacy, violence, and liberation.

"On a bare stage with only basic lighting, the bodies and voices of the actors
are the only instruments, and Spatz and Balduzzi are masterful."

PLAY/WAR is a highly physical, rhythmically structured performance based on original songs, movement, and text. The heart of the performance is in the living contact between the performers and the shifting dynamics between the two figures, soldier and civilian. PLAY/WAR has also been described as an investigation of contemporary masculinity.

PLAY/WAR will run at Medicine Show Theatre (NYC) from July to August, 2010. Earlier versions were performed at Where Eagles Dare (NYC); North American Cultural Laboratory (Highland Lake, NY); and the Movement Research Festival at Judson Church (NYC). You can support this work by voting through the New York Innovative Theatre Awards.
